Birdies

Hi everyone!! Today's card is for this weeks Mojo sketch, Dawn's color challenge to use soft yellow, light aqua, chocolate and ivory and for Tosha's "Get in Shape" challenge on Splitcoast for the Verve release. I don't make tall cards very often, I don't really think of it, I guess I am stuck in an A2 rut so this challenge was perfect!! I thought my Black Tie Birdies would be fun for the challenges!! I stamped them and the balloons with Ranger Walnut Stain ink and cut out then popped up with pop dots.
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Poppin Pastels

I have wanted to try this technique for a long time and thanks to 2 challenges I finally did!!! My card is for the Verve sketch challenge with a twist, the twist was to use the Poppin Pastels or Burned Batik technique. This weeks Stamp TV video Gina showed how it was done! Quick, easy and fun!!! The flower image is from Gina's Make A Wish set from a long time ago, I don't think the set is available anymore, I can't find it on her site but I love this flower!! I ran the top cream layer through my Cuttlebug embossing with my Forest Branches folder. The circle seemed a bit empty, I thought about using a sentiment but I'm not sure what I will use the card for so I added dew drops, the colors are such a close match!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Verve Week 1

Today's card is for Verve's July week 1 sketch with a twist. What a fun layout don't you think?! The twist was to distress!! Usually I only distress for masculine cards, I think it is the perfect element for those types but as I was thinking about what image to use, I knew it would be fun for this one! I love all of the images from Verve's Because of You set and thought this little one would be perfect for the little panel! I ink the stems and grass in Papertrey's Avocado and the little buds in Papertrey's Summer Sunrise. I distressed all the panels except for the base card. Couldn't help but use my Scor Bug on the Avocado panel, I love that little tool!!!
I was visiting Debbie's blog one day and she was talking about the Bow Easy, she had a link to Sharon's blog which led to a great video tutorial by Jerri on how to use it! It dawned on me that I had seen the Bow Easy at my lss so while I was out running errands the other day I stopped in there and sure enough they had it! Now sometimes I can make bows but lately I have been bow challenged but not anymore!! Except now I need to work on cutting my tails, geez!!! It's always something isn't it?
Some exciting news for me!! My friend Christina, or as most know her as Sunshine has asked me to be on her design team!!! Her and her hubs have a great new line of digital stamps!!! Some of you may have already seen (and got yourself!) Angus Argus, they are coming out with new digital stamps every Saturday!! I will be back late Saturday afternoon (if not before, lol!!) with the newest image!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Thinking of You

Dawn has a GORGEOUS color challenge this week!! I knew I couldn't pass this one up!!! The colors for this challenge are melon, berry, dark chocolate and cream, yum!!! I thought my Scattered Showers set would be perfect for this challenge along with the second Verve release sketch challenge! I used my Retro Background Basics on the background squares, I thought this stamp went nice with the umbrella!
It is still so hot here today, but we are supposed to get rain tonight so hopefully that will cool things off a bit. Last week it was in the 60's, this week in the 90's, ugh!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!!

Mojo 92

Today's card is for the Mojo Monday challenge, Julee always has such great sketches! I used a beautiful sentiment from Verve's Because of You set, I think it could be used for so many important people in our lives!! The set is geared toward women, but I decided to use a button instead of stamping as I am not sure what I will use this card for yet.
Sorry, I'm not too chatty tonight, it is HOT here and our air isn't working, and it is 91 degrees in our house, blech!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Mom

Today's card is for my first Verve challenge with a twist. I found the challenges last month but was scared to try!! See every Friday on Verve's member companies forum on Splitcoast they post a sketch challenge with some type of twist and some are hard!! LOL!!! I was looking last night and decided to start with an easy one. The twist was to use a lot of white and no more than 2 colors of cardstock. I thought about trying white on white but thought that might look funny with what I wanted to do. Seems that my cards lately have to give me some grief and for today's card the grief was embossing, shouldn't be hard now should it? Well even though I used my embossing and once very heavily I still could not get rid of some of the straggling dots, ugh!! So after trying 4 times, yes FOUR times, I finally gave in and stamped the flowers and Mom in Versamark, inked in Versafine Black Onyx ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I WIN!! Ha! I added some Swarovski black crystals to the centers of the flowers from the punch and in the circle for a little added something.
My Mom's birthday is on Saturday so this card is going in the mail today!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Verve Release Sketch

Last night I was wandering around SCS and stumbled upon a great sketch in the Verve forum. Bonus, there is a chance to win a prize and a guest designer for the next release!!! Thanks so much Julee for the chance for both opportunities!!!!
I was sitting in my stamping area thinking about what to do, I decided to use my Father Figure set, I love this set, so versatile for man card!!! I found the perfect dp, Basic Grey Blush!! I thought it would be neat to use the panel with the dp. I stamped the sentiment and then centered my Nestabilites Small Label, ran through my Cuttlebug to only emboss, I thought it helps the sentiment stand out a bit more. I sewed my buttons on with DMC embossing floss, the are seemed a little blank so I paper pierced around the edges and hand sewed the stitches. This card was so much fun to make, I was able to incorporate my 2 very favorite hobbies!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!!
