For the base and stripes layer I used Curious Iridescent Cryogen White and added more sparkle around the sentiment panel with Prisma glitter.

Bird Fusion

Applique Trees

Hi everyone!! My card for today is for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast and for Gina's technique challenge on Stamp TV to use Liquid Applique. I decided to use the trees from my Holiday Cheer set, love these trees!! I applied the Liquid Applique and poured glitter over, I love the shimmer to give the look of real snow, and accidentally discovered quite some time ago, with the glitter the Liquid Applique isn't as sticky.

Winter Wishes

Today's sketch on Splitcoast was perfect to use these fun snowflakes from Gina K's Warm Winter Wishes set, illustrated by Carolyn King. Carolyn is donating 100% of her proceeds to the Alzheimer Association in honor of her Grandmother. I love this set, so much fun and versatile!! I knew I wanted to use the snowflake from the set and thought this pattern from my Eskimo Kisses paper pad would be perfect!! I wanted a warm feeling card and thought Gina K's Soft Sand and Asparagus cardstock fit the bill! I played around with embossing powder, glitter and stickles until I figured out what would work best inside the image and my Star Dust Stickles won!!

Chickadee Sketch

Today's card is for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast. I wanted to use my Candy Cane Chickadee from Impression Obsession. We have had a lot of chickadee's hanging around our bird feeder lately, they are a lot of fun to watch!! The theme this month for the dirty dozen is winged things, so they were both my inspiration for my card!! I stamped the image twice, the second is cut out and popped up using dimentionals. I didn't like so much white so I distressed the edges with my scissors and used Papertrey's Tea Dye Duo around the edges. The lighter color I ran around the edges several times to bleed further closer to the image.

Today's card combines 3 challenges, the sketch challenge on Splitcoast, Lynn's potluck challenge on Stamp TV to use buttons and Basic Grey's color challenge, to use pink, yellow and brown. Last night my son's girlfriend asked if I had any baby cards, I didn't but told her I would make up a couple of samples and let her pick one! I recently received this cute carriage image from my good buddy Denise (thanks bud!!!) and thought it would be perfect for all of the challenges. I don't think you can see in the photo but I used my Sakura Gelly Roll pen to the spokes on the wheels for a little bling!! For some reason I had a devil of a time with the triangle shape, the right side is supposed to go to the edge. Ah well!

Two Lives...

My card is for today's sketch challenge on Splitcoast along with Julie's dirty dozen tutorial Faux Embossing with Die Cuts. It took me quite a while to figure out what I wanted to do for today's sketch, deciding an elegant card would be fun to make!! I don't have any heart shaped die cuts for the Faux Embossing so I stamped some hearts and cut them out! It took a couple of tries running through my Cuttlebug, those little buggers didn't want to stay in place! The large rectangle piece I scored using my Scor-Pal, one of the best investments I made, love it!!! It is a cloudy rainy day here so I don't think you can see the sparkle from the cardstock, it is real pretty irl!!

I have a triple challenge card to share!! Last night when I looked at the sketch challenge on Splitcoast nothing was coming to me so I thought I would skip it. I watched Gina's video on Inking a Cuttlebug Folder on Stamp TV, and started thinking of ideas. I was cruising around Splitcoast some more and came across Amber's Verve release challenge which was to make a birthday card, then everything started coming together!! My 100% Sweet set never made it off my desk, it was put away, just not where it was supposed to be!! LOL!!! I thought I would try my hand at all the challenges and make a yummy birthday ice cream cone!! How fun would it be to blow out a candle on a major mound of ice cream!!! You wouldn't want to do it today in Minnesota, you would have a sticky mess between the candle burning and the heat!!

I have been itching to use my new Floral Fusion set I received at the CHA supershow from Papertrey. This is such a gorgeous set and so happy to get my hands on it!!! I can't believe I didn't use any embellishments, I think that is a first! But I don't think this card needs any, it probably would have been too much.

Today's card is for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast. This is a nice simple layout but also a little difficult. I seem to have troubles with layouts that have small panels. But that is why I love challenges, keeps the 'ol noggin thinking!!! I came up with the idea to use my first anniversary set from Papertrey. Lots of great smaller images!! The image one I chose is my favorite!! After stamping and punching them out I came up with idea to use Taylor's Multi Color Twinkles, the lighter pink color matches so well with the cardstock!!! This is one of my favorite color combos with Papertrey colors (which I stumbled upon accidentally!). I knew I wanted to do something with ribbon on the left side and had to think a while on what to do. Then I remembered the ribbon rose and I think it fits in real nice!!! Bonus, it is easy and fun!!!

With the 4th right around the corner today's sketch challenge fit perfectly for my card!! I was a bit stumped at first, I had to put on my thinking cap!!! I don't have a lot of small image stamps which is what I was thinking at first, but remembering today was Canada day made me think of my Let Freedom Ring set!! The 4th is my very favorite holiday of the year so when this set was released I had to have it!!!!

My card is 5 1/4 square, all the images are embossed, I should have done it with the words too but I was stamping and cutting and excited my SU! punches would work, I totally forgot about it!!!

Today's card is for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast, thanks for a great sketch Dawn! I pulled out my Life set from Papertrey, I thought it was perfect for today's sketch!!! I stamped the leaf image over and over using Aqua Mist ink for the 2 side panels and cut out using my long deckled Nestabilites, the middle image was embossed using SU! Classy Copper embossing powder. I wanted to go with different colors than what I normally would use so I incorporated Hibiscus Burst, LOVE this color!!!! I made this card for today's sketch challenge on SCS which was fun, but I really don't like this card!!! I don't know what it is, I think this image is so cute and perfect as the lilacs are starting to bloom. I can't put my finger on it but I am just not happy with it. And I don't have time to make another card now, I have errands to run. Sigh. I guess we all have those types of cards from time to time!

The image is from PysselPassion, I found it when looking for other stamps, given I love lilacs I had to have her!! She may not be available now as I couldn't find her on the site. But there are lots of other cute stamps!! I had to quickly back out so I'm not tempted!! I am on a spending freeze which is so hard!!!

Long-Time Friend

Happy April Fools Day!! I'm not good at playing jokes on others but I need to be careful with my oldest and youngest sons today. I fall for jokes every single time, they know to get me when I least expect it!! Today's card is for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast. I used my long retired but much loved Long-Time Friend. I didn't get this set when it first came out but was lucky enough to buy it on the b/s/t forums on Splitcoast!! I colored the image on Very Vanilla cardstock with my copic markers E19, E35, E37, E57, G99 and the image was hightlighted with R00. I thought about using brown for the layers but really liked the pop of the black!! The dp is from Basic Grey's Bittersweet paper pad, Papertrey Dark Chocolate Satin ribbon and Papertrey black and Hibiscus buttons in the corners. Love these buttons!! I used Flower Soft on the flowers, it is so fun and adds so much!! The flowers on the right side I used Lemon Flower Soft, the bottom left is Summer Flower Soft and the top left flowers I used Sweet Pea Flower Soft.

Garden Gate

Hi everyone!! Today's card is for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast. I have been coloring a lot of images during my breaks at work and chose this image, Garden Gate from High Hopes. It has been a looooooong cold winter here in Minnesota and I cannot wait for the first signs of spring!! This image is so beautiful!! I colored it with my Copic markers, trying to match Papertrey colors. They have such beautiful fresh colors!!! The base card is Sweet Blush and I added a piece of their designer paper. The large square is Spring Moss that I ran through my Cuttlebug using my Stylized embossing folder, the purple is Plum Pudding and I used my Branches embossing folder. The image was cut out using my Large Labels and I added Taylors Tiny Twinkles in the corners. On the dp I added a larger size of the Twinkles. The jury is still out on this card, still not to sure of it!!

Father Time

Hi everyone!! Can you believe today is the last day of 2008? Where did the year go?! Grandma always said when you get older time goes by so much faster and I didn't understand, since I was so young. But I sure understand now!!

Today's card is for the sketch challenge on SCS. It took me a while to figure out an image, didn't come right to me today, and all of a sudden the light came on when I was talking with some friends and telling them the story I just told you!! This image is Father Time and Baby New Year from High Hopes. Love this image!!!! I colored the image using my Copics. The blade is colored with my black Gelly Roll pen and the chain around Father Time is colored with my yellow Gelly Roll pen, then I highlighted the image with my clear Gelly Roll Pen. I cut the image out using my small labels Nestabilites, the back layer I cut out using my rectangle Nestabilites with Basic Black cardstock. The sentiment layer was cut out using my long rectangle Nestabilites layered on Basic Black and cut out using my long scallop rectangles. The base card and white layers are Papertrey White Select cardstock. I added Pearl Bella Baubles on the main layer and my final touch was to add Liquid Glass to the watch. The sentiment is from my Simple Little Things set from Papertrey.
