Dad

Hi everyone!  Today I have a card for the latest OWH Sketch challenge.  This is a great sketch, I had a lot of fun with it!  I wanted to get some fathers day cards done this weekend so the timing of the challenge was perfect!  I pulled out a long retired Verve stamp set Father Figure.  It is one of those sets that I will never part with!
I hope you enjoy and thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hold your Hand

Hi everyone!!  Today I have a card for the CASology challenge.  The cue card for this week is song.  The first thing that came to my mind is this sentiment from Verve's Feeling Groovy set.  I've never been a Beatles fan but I love this on a card!  I started out by attaching my crafting tape from Michael's, then I embossed the sentiment using blue embossing powder and cutting the end with my pinking shears.  Finally I attached some gems.  Both the main layer and sentiment layer are up with pop dots.
I hope you enjoy and thanks so much for stopping by today!!

Welcome to the Anni-VERVE-sary Blog Hop! Verve turns three today and we’re celebrating with a hop, hop, hop! If you've already been hopping along, you arrived here from Edna's blog. If not, head on over to Julee's blog (owner of Verve), for all the info on how to win prizes (after all, what's a party without presents?), and to start hopping from the beginning. If there's a hiccup along the hop, you can always head to the Master List to get the full list of links.

I've always loved these birdies, they look truly in love, no?  And such a cute couple :)  Very simple card, the birds and sentiment are heat embossed using black embossing powder.  I'm not sure about you but I don't do much embossing anymore but I love it, perfect for this pair!!
Thanks for hopping by! Now it's time to hop on over to Lisabee's  blog, for a little more Verve-y goodness.

Verve Color

Hi everyone!! I wanted to share a card with you I made this weekend for Verve's release color challenge. I used my very favorite Verve set, Because of You, love this set, it is so beautiful!!! The color challenge was Turquoise, Olive, Black and White. I decided to try my markers on the stamp since I don't have a turquoise color ink pad. I really was pleased with the effect!! I had to color the stamp and apply to paper quickly, the colors start to separate on the clear stamps quickly!! When I first saw the color challenge I didn't think I could come up with anything I would care for, but it is really quite the opposite, I think these colors are beautiful together!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Paper: Papertrey White, Bitty Box, Gina K Black
Ink: Tempting Turquoise & Old Olive Markers

One Layer

Today's card is for Charmaine's Verve anniversary challenge. Her challenge was to make a one layer card. No pop ups, additional layers of any kind. Now I like making CAS cards but it sure isn't easy for me making a card look good with just one layer! But I was up for the challenge and a good one it is! Thanks Charmaine!! Of course I reached for my favorite Verve set Because of You, this is my favorite image in the set, so delicate and pretty!! After I stamped the image I ran it through my Cuttlebug using my oval Nestability to bring it out more. I knew I wanted to use the ribbon on top but the card sure needed more! Then I got the bright idea to use a punch at the bottom and sponge around the edges!!! I used the cubes from Papertrey's Vintage Touch Inking System, love these little cubes! I really like the feel it gave to the card!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Verve Blog Hop!!

Welcome to the first ever Anni-VERVE-sary Bog Hop. Verve turns two today and we're celebrating with a hop, hop, hop! The party kicked off over on the Verve blog, so if you've just happened along, be sure to hop over there to start from the beginning! And to make this party a real shindig, there's a mystery jackpot hidden at one of the stops along the hop. One lucky customer on that blog will win Verve's entire August release! But of course, it wouldn't be a mystery if you know which blog, would it? So if you're feeling the love, give a little shout out to the bloggers in the hop and you just might have a reason to jump for joy.

For my card for the blog hop I used my Because of You set, I LOVE this set, all the flowers are so beautiful!! I wanted to do a bit of a different color combo so I inked the grass /stems portion with Papertrey's New Leaf and the flowers with Hibiscus burst on Stampin Up! Kraft cardstock. I cut the image out using my Labels Two Nestabilites. For the Hibiscus Burst panel I scored using my Scor-Bug, love that little tool, it adds so much!!! I used my Bow Easy to make my bow, so fast and easy to make the perfect bow!!
Thanks for stopping by now hop on over to Shannan's blog for a little more Verve-y goodness.

Mojo 94

I wanted to make another card, I haven't done the Mojo challenge yet this week, I kind of forgot about it, not sure how that happened!!! I was stumped on what image to use, for a while I was stuck on using a sentiment but decided on my Bunny Duet stamp, they are so cute!!! I paper pieced the bunnies bellies, feet, her bow and his tie. Under the sentiment and on the necklace I added Taylor's Crystal Twinkles, needed to add a little bling!! I thought it would be fun to bring out some of the colors from the paper that wasn't as noticeable and used the yellow, I LOVE how close Basic Grey and Papertrey colors match!!
Thanks so much for stopping by again!!!

Verve Week 1

Today's card is for Verve's July week 1 sketch with a twist. What a fun layout don't you think?! The twist was to distress!! Usually I only distress for masculine cards, I think it is the perfect element for those types but as I was thinking about what image to use, I knew it would be fun for this one! I love all of the images from Verve's Because of You set and thought this little one would be perfect for the little panel! I ink the stems and grass in Papertrey's Avocado and the little buds in Papertrey's Summer Sunrise. I distressed all the panels except for the base card. Couldn't help but use my Scor Bug on the Avocado panel, I love that little tool!!!
I was visiting Debbie's blog one day and she was talking about the Bow Easy, she had a link to Sharon's blog which led to a great video tutorial by Jerri on how to use it! It dawned on me that I had seen the Bow Easy at my lss so while I was out running errands the other day I stopped in there and sure enough they had it! Now sometimes I can make bows but lately I have been bow challenged but not anymore!! Except now I need to work on cutting my tails, geez!!! It's always something isn't it?
Some exciting news for me!! My friend Christina, or as most know her as Sunshine has asked me to be on her design team!!! Her and her hubs have a great new line of digital stamps!!! Some of you may have already seen (and got yourself!) Angus Argus, they are coming out with new digital stamps every Saturday!! I will be back late Saturday afternoon (if not before, lol!!) with the newest image!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Today's card is for the Mojo Monday challenge, Julee always has such great sketches! I used a beautiful sentiment from Verve's Because of You set, I think it could be used for so many important people in our lives!! The set is geared toward women, but I decided to use a button instead of stamping as I am not sure what I will use this card for yet.
Sorry, I'm not too chatty tonight, it is HOT here and our air isn't working, and it is 91 degrees in our house, blech!!!

Mom

Today's card is for my first Verve challenge with a twist. I found the challenges last month but was scared to try!! See every Friday on Verve's member companies forum on Splitcoast they post a sketch challenge with some type of twist and some are hard!! LOL!!! I was looking last night and decided to start with an easy one. The twist was to use a lot of white and no more than 2 colors of cardstock. I thought about trying white on white but thought that might look funny with what I wanted to do. Seems that my cards lately have to give me some grief and for today's card the grief was embossing, shouldn't be hard now should it? Well even though I used my embossing and once very heavily I still could not get rid of some of the straggling dots, ugh!! So after trying 4 times, yes FOUR times, I finally gave in and stamped the flowers and Mom in Versamark, inked in Versafine Black Onyx ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I WIN!! Ha! I added some Swarovski black crystals to the centers of the flowers from the punch and in the circle for a little added something.
My Mom's birthday is on Saturday so this card is going in the mail today!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Husband

My card for today is for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast, Roxie has another great one!!! Since Father's Day is Sunday I figured this was a good time to make a card for my husband and not be scrambling Sunday!! My Father Figure set from Verve is my favorite "man" set, I just love this set!!! All of the sentiments are perfect!!!! Very simple today, the sentiments and dots were stamped in Versamark then in SU! Bravo Burgundy, and embossed with clear embossing powder and cut out using my small labels Nestabilites. The Bravo Burgundy panel was run through my Cuttlebug with one of my Just My Type Embossing Folders. I don't think you can see well in the picture but there are tiny little red dots in the dp that I was trying to bring out, I figured if I went with the lighter colors the card would be real washed out. IRL the colors match better, in the picture they all look so off!!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!!

Stamps: Verve Father Figure
Paper: SU! Kraft & Bravo Burgundy, Papertrey True Black, Basic Grey Boxer

Verve Release Sketch

Last night I was wandering around SCS and stumbled upon a great sketch in the Verve forum. Bonus, there is a chance to win a prize and a guest designer for the next release!!! Thanks so much Julee for the chance for both opportunities!!!!
I was sitting in my stamping area thinking about what to do, I decided to use my Father Figure set, I love this set, so versatile for man card!!! I found the perfect dp, Basic Grey Blush!! I thought it would be neat to use the panel with the dp. I stamped the sentiment and then centered my Nestabilites Small Label, ran through my Cuttlebug to only emboss, I thought it helps the sentiment stand out a bit more. I sewed my buttons on with DMC embossing floss, the are seemed a little blank so I paper pierced around the edges and hand sewed the stitches. This card was so much fun to make, I was able to incorporate my 2 very favorite hobbies!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Color Sketch Duet

Today's card combines Taylor's sketch challenge and Kristina's color challenge, to use Chocolate Chip (I used Dark Chocolate), Tangerine Tango, So Saffron and Whisper White (I used Papertrey White Select and Gina K Pure Luxury). I thought the colors were great along with the sketch!!! I knew when I saw the sketch I wanted to use my new Bunny Duet stamp, it is so cute and has so many possibilities!!! I started by stamping the image on Gina K's Pure Luxury cardstock, stamping the boy bunnies belly and bow tie on Tangerine Tango cardstock and the girl bunnies belly and bow on So Saffron cardstock. I cut the colored cardstock and adhered over the areas. The bunnies were colored using my Copic markers and highlighted with my Sakura Clear Gel Pen. I cut the image with my Small Labels and attached to a layer of Dark Chocolate using my Large Labels. I then added Taylor's Tiny Twinkles to the girl bunnies necklace, she needed some bling!! The So Saffron and Tangerine Tango strips were run through my Cuttlebug using my With Love embossing folders and attached to a layer of Dark Chocolate. I added Snow and Chocolate Kaiser pearls to the middle of the flowers. Just couldn't leave it alone, needed more bling!! LOL!!! It was good to create again and such a fun card to make!!

A Card for Lena

Hello!!! Tonight I wanted to share a card with you that I made for the Secret Exchange I was in through the Splitcoast Wish RAK. This is from August and I was lucky enough to get Lena!! I met Lena through the Wish RAK and she is such a nice sweet lady!!! Unfortuneatly the picture of her goodies that I altered for her and sent her didn't turn out!! Grrrrr..... And of course I didn't realize that until the package was mailed!! What do you do?! Lena's favorite colors are red and white. I found this fun paper at Archivers and altered a mailbox, pen, notebook, large paperclip and this card. I used this cute little bear from Whipper Snapper called Lil Standing Teddy. I thought he was so fun for the reveal!! The sentiment is from the Feeling Groovy set from Verve. I colored the Teddy using my Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol and blending stumps. After I colored the image I ran it through my Cuttlebug using my hearts Nestability and ran the next size bigger in Chocolate Chip cardstock. I used some velvet ric rak from May Arts and attached it where the dp stopped. Easy fun card to make and Lena said she liked it!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!!!
And yea, tomorrow is Friday!!!!
