Polka Dot Birthday

As with the majority of my cards, this one took a life of it's own!! And it kind of makes me giggle too! I went downstairs to stamp, thinking I would like to make a CAS card, today's challenge is to make a birthday card, perfect, I can always use birthday cards!! I was also thinking about yesterday's High Hopes challenge, Crissy wanted us to use polka dots!!! Well that fits in great for a birthday card and what the heck, how about the color challenge on Stamp TV, nothing specific this week, get your color inspiration from flowers blooming in your yard! Initially of course my thoughts went to a cupcake until I ran into this little beauty, Three Candle Cake from High Hopes, perfect!!! And the wheels started turning!! I remembered I had these fun brads that I bought a long time ago but don't seem to have the right card for them very often, same with the ribbon. I wanted to use bright fun colors for the color challenge and took them from the ribbon and brads. And just because it is fun, I added stickles to the candles, Crystal Effects to the chocolate icing and the plate!!

I'm back!!! I was feeling the need to make another card and wanting to participate in the High Hopes challenge, this week Lacey is challenging us to use stars or stripes! Initially I was going to use a different image but while looking through my stamps I decided on Beach Girl Patti, isn't she adorable!! I haven't inked her up in a long time. The dp was sitting in my stack of paper and I used that as my color inspiration, I thought doing something different with the colors would be fun!

DawnL is this weeks featured stamper and I chose this card as my inspiration, I was going to use the striped paper on the whole card but it was too much so I cut it down. I changed the theme, colors (Dawn used primarily green, I used pink), I changed the shape and added the button, charm and ribbon.

So my card today is for him!!! It also combines today's sketch challenge and the High Hopes challenge to use scraps! For the birthday occasion I decided to use my Champagne Glass image, I thought it was a fun image to use for a birthday card!! A simple card, the image was colored with Copic markers, I used my clear Sakura Gelly Roll Pen on the glass and bubbles bubbles and Crystal effects on the glass.

No Corners!!!

My card for today is for 2 challenges, the High Hopes challenge for this week is no corners, ack!!! And the limited supplies challenge on Splitcoast today is to make a 1 layer card with a summer theme. In Minnesota we only see fire flies in the summer, too cold for those little cuties in the winter, lol!!! So I decided to use this cuuuuuute Jenny's Glow Bugs stamp from High Hopes. I took a sheet of cardstock, cut and scored it like I would for a regular A2 size card, and ran it through my Cuttlebug cutting out with my largest oval Nestability. I colored the image with my Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol and blending stumps. Jenny's arms, feet and face were colored with Copic markers and she was highlighted with a marker also. I put Crystal Effects on the jar. Not room for much else and I felt like it needed something!!

Wanna Sleep Over?!

Hehe!!! Isn't she just the cutest, how could you say no if she asked you?! My card is for this weeks High Hopes challenge to use pink and brown!!! How perfect is that for me!!! My sketch is from the weekend sketch brought to us my Mary Jo this week!!! I paper pieced her pj's, bow blanket and the bears paws and bow. I added some fun flock to him, looks pretty funny huh?! Too bad that was the last thing I did, I would have colored him if I had done that part first!! I had to add the 2 odd buttons, I made a mistake and had to hide it!! Maybe I shouldn't have tried to make and upload 3 cards in one day!! Oh well, tomorrow is a busy day and I don't think I will have time to be creative and was really feeling it today!!

Though I will have a post in the early evening for Papertrey's blog hop!!!

You Rock!!

I'm back!! LOL!!! This is my 2nd post for today!!! Last night after I did the card from the post below I colored this cutie patootie rock star!!!! This card is for the High Hopes challenge to doodle and for Tracy's weekly sketch challenge. Thanks for the fun sketch Tracy and to Karen for a fun HH challenge!! I don't doodle, thought I would be pretty lousy at it given I can't draw for anything!! But, I am kind of pleased with my doodling on this card, and now I just may add it more often!! My card is kind of funky which is what I was trying to achieve!!! Rock stars (especially from the 80's, lol!!!) are kind of that way anyway right?! The image I chose is Singing Catrina, I think one of the cutest rock stars around!!! Catrina is colored using Copic Markers, my color inspiration coming from a couple of colors in the dp. The top of her microphone, belt buckle and highlights were colored with my Sakura Gelly Roll Clear Pen, trying to bring a bit of sparkle and the panel below the main image is PTI silver cardstock. The sentiment was stamped in Encore Silver to keep with the sparkly!!!

Slumber Party!!

Today's card is for Taylor's Cupcake Challenge and it is a tribute to my 2 great stamping buddies, Denise and Janice!! One year ago today I met these wonderful girls in person, they picked me up at the airport and we headed to Ocean City Maryland!!! It was an awesome time, one I will never forget and always treasure, love you girls!!!! Smooches!!!!

I was so excited to receive this great stamp from High Hopes, Girl Talk, it reminds me so much of our weekend!!! I paper pieced all the girls pj's and hair bows and colored the girls hair, hands, feet and face with my copics, the inside lines of the pillows were highlighted also. I found this great lace from JoAnn's, it is so pretty!!!!

Happy Birthday!!

Today is my "babies" birthday, I cannot believe he is 17 today!!! Where does the time go!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE!!!!

I made this card for him, it fits in perfectly with the High Hopes challenge from yesterday!! Anna is the hostess this week and the theme is "One for the Boys"!! I chose to use High Hopes Party Cow image, isn't it so fun and perfect for Jake, he is so much fun!!! I colored the image with my copic markers and on the Basic Gray layer I stamped the Have a Happy Birthday sentiment in Versamark and repeated it. The Single Presents layers are up on Pop Dots. I have been using those a lot lately, they add so much to a card!!

Marbly Luigi

I wanted to participate in Kristina's 50th color challenge, these colors are not in my comfort zone and I typically would not put them together. Late last night I was going through some images I had stamped up and decided on my new Luigi, isn't he adorable?! The majority of my stamping stuff is all packed up now so I am very limited to what I can do. I checked out the Technique Lovers challenge on Splitcoast and I thought it would work perfectly!!! Today's challenge is the Marble Technique, roll marbles in reinkers and roll on your cardstock, fun and easy!!! A long time ago I specifically bought marbles and reinkers to do this technique and have never done it. As luck would have it, my reinkers were at the top of a tub I packed them in and the marbles were out, yea!!! Kristina is very specific with the colors, red, yellow, brown, turquoise and white, nothing additional, and red and yellow are the only reinkers I have in the color challenge. Both challenges were a lot of fun!!!

I stole some time tonight to finish up my card for Taylor's challenge!!! I was stumped for a while because of the thin layer but I figured it out!! I had to flip the sketch because the girl was too close to the boarder and it just didn't look right smooshed together. I colored both the girl and the boarder with my Copic markers and I used Dimentionals to pop them up. I found this fun ribbon at Joann's, I thought it was so pretty and kind of goes along with the lace on her dress!

Wow, where has the week gone?! I have had this card made for a few days!! This card is for this weeks High Hopes challenge, to distress which I really like!! I immediately thought of these fun images, Peg Leg Pete, Polly and Treasure Map. I knew I wanted to distress the map, the perfect image to distress!!! Pete is so cute, love his expression on his face!! LOL!!! I thought pretty Polly would be cute hanging out on the wheel. I used my scissors to distress the map and black layers, Pete and Polly were colored using my Copics. Sorry, I didn't keep them separate, my brain is mush right now and I totally forgot about it!! I added Velvet Fun Flock on Pete's shirt, so fun!!!

Part of the reason my brain is mush right now is we are moving next Friday and things are starting to get real crazy right now!! I won't be able to post as often (though I have another card in the works now so I may be back later today!) but I so love to make cards and I can't stay away long!!!

I'm doing the happy dance, my High Hopes order came!! Woo hoo!!! Love me some High Hopes!!! How FUN is this image!!! I decided this is the one I was going to color up, it works perfectly for today's sketch challenge. It was lots of fun to pick the colors!! I cut the image out using my Labels Three Nestabilites. The base card and mats are SU Kraft, the dp is Basic Grey Gypsy. I thought the the patterns and colors went well with the sandwich!!

I found the Weekend Sketch Challenge on Lori's blog, what a great sketch, thanks Lori (love your name and how you spell it!! LOL!!)!! If you know me at all you know how I LOVE High Hopes stamps, well they are having a new release which I am very excited about!!! Given that patience is not one of my finer qualities, I decided while I wait, I will make a card with one (of many!) of my favorite images!!! I chose Jolie's Little Friend because she is displaying how I feel waiting for the release!!! Not to mention, it is such a beautiful day here today and wouldn't I LOVE to be sitting outside on the grass like her!!

I royally messed up on this sketch, when I put the image and my Nestie though my Cuttlebug, it went bad, very bad so I had to instantly come up with plan b!! I guess it works ok, but not what I intended!!

Mojo Piercing Copics

Woohoo!! I was able to make another card today and combine 3 challenges!!! The Mojo challenge from Monday (FUN sketch!!), Sunday's High Hopes challenge to use piercing (LOVE piercing!!) and a new Copic challenge, this week coloring of jeans, fun!!! Initially I was going to use a smaller image from High Hopes until I saw the link to the Copic challenge on my good buddy Denise's blog, thanks bud!!! I had to find an image with jeans, I have a few so I then had to decide!! LOL!!! It is finally decent outside and we will be hearing the ice cream truck coming down the street!!! Love this Ice Cream for Two image, so what my boys did when they were much younger!!! That is why I had to make his hair blonde, 2 of my boys were blondies when they were little!! LOL!!!

Today's Featured Stamper on Splitcoast is **Inge**, congrats!!! She is an outstanding stamper, her coloring is SO beautiful!!!! She is a previous High Hopes Diva and her gallery is loaded with wonderful creations!!! I did not have time this morning to create a card but selected this card to case. The main things I changed are the sketch and dp. I have had Stretch for a while but have not inked him up so after seeing Inge's card I knew I had to case!!! Stretch was colored with Copic markers, cut out with long rectangle Netabilites and applied to a layer of Chocolate Chip cardstock. The designer paper is Papertrey's Father Knows Best, I thought this paper was a perfect match with Stretch!!! I found this fun ribbon at Joann's and was looking for an excuse to use it and thought it would be a fun addition to this card!!!

Cupcake Sketch

Last week I didn't have a chance to play in Taylor's cupcake sketch so I wanted to be sure to participate this week!! The sketches Taylor has I always love!!!

I had it stuck in my head I wanted to make a card with a boy in it. I was going through my High Hopes stamps and decided to use this little cutie, Sundays Best. This is one (of many, lol!!!) of my favorite High Hopes stamps. The look on his face is precious, and I love his shirt tail hanging out, so my boys when they were little!!! I decided to paper piece with my Boxer paper pad from Basic Grey, his pants and tie are pieced with the same paper, and I chose a different one for his shirt. His face, arm, shoes and the flowers were colored using Copic markers. I used my large and small labels Nestabilites to cut out the Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip layers he is mounted on. The velvet flower at the top is from Papertrey and I stuck a large Dew Drop in the center.

Happy Birthday

I have a triple challenge card to share today!! Dawn's color challenge is so beautiful, though I had no idea what I was going to do!! Initially I was thinking flowers but didn't have a specific image in mind. Yesterday's High Hopes challenge was to use creative boarders in any way we can think of. I was browsing the SCS site last night and found the CAS (clean and simple) challenge and it is a sketch which I really like so the wheels kicked into high gear and started thinking!! LOL!! This morning I was going through my High Hopes stamps, specifically looking for smaller stamps and I found this cute Franklin Froggy, perfect for all 3 challenges!!! I colored the image with my Copic markers, Franklin was colored with YG11 (Mignonette), his hat was colored with BG09 (Blue Green) and E29 (Burnt Umber). I was so pleased with how well the Blue Green matched the Taken With Teal cardstock and the Burnt Umber matched with Papertrey's Dark Chocolate!!!! I cut the image out using my Labels 3 Nestabilites, the Dark Chocolate layer using a size up. I distressed the edges on both layers and also both of the horizontal layers. I wrapped Dark Chocolate Twill around the horizontal layer and tied in a knot. I stamped Happy Birthday from my SU! Warmest Regards set. Very simple and quick!!!

Krafty Riding Sun

I have a triple challenge card to share!!! As I have mentioned before, I love to combine challenges when I can!! I combined today's sketch challenge, yesterday's color challenge (to use Kraft, Real Red, Summer Sun and optional black) and High Hopes challenge, NO dp, ack!!! That is so hard, I LOVE my dp!!! All three challenges had me stumped. I sat down last night to make a card with the color challenge and nothing was working this morning when I was going through my stamped images and the light bulb went on, lol!!! This adorable image is Clarabelle and Riley from High Hopes. I colored the image with my Copic markers. I decided the cow should be black and white, so I just colored the spots with 100 and the udders with R20. Clarabelle's skin was colored with E51 and I dotted R20 on her cheeks. Her jeans, cuff on her shirt and bandanna was colored with B24, her shirt R46 and Y17. I didn't do any shading with those colors, I was worried about going outside of the lines too much!! I did blending with her boots and hat using E35 and E37 and her hair with Y21. I hightlighted the image with C1. I cut the image out using my small labels Nestabilities and the black using my large labels Nestabilites. The base card is Kraft, I then cut down pieces of Real Red, Summer Sun and Kraft, ran them through my Cuttlebug using my Just My Type embossing folders, attached to a piece of True Black cardstock and and tied Kraft Taffeta ribbon in a knot. The main image is up on dimentionals, I thought with the dots and ribbon it would look better that way.

Pansies!

Pansies are such a beautiful flower and a sure sign of spring!! My neighbor is such a flower nut, she will go out and buy them as soon as the weather is right for them, and they are so hardy, it is early!! LOL!!! This weeks Basic Grey challenge is a sketch, I had to think about it for a couple of days, this isn't my typical style but I was determined!! LOL!! And I think it turned out ok! The large circle was the trickiest for me! I had the image Pansy Arranagement already colored and wanted to use it, I guess in continuing to hope spring is right around the corner (after another snow storm tomorrow and Wednesday a high of only 16!)! The image was embossed with Black Detail Embossing Powder and colored with my Twinkling H2O's and a water brush on watercolor paper. The image was cut out using my sqare Nestabilites, I then cut a piece of Papertrey's True Black a little larger. The base card is Very Vanilla, I added a piece of True Black and a layer of Basic Grey Porcelain dp. It is hard to tell but the green in that layer is also in little bits on the paper with the bird cages. The large circle is Papertrey's New Leaf. I so love this green color!! I have been using it a lot lately! I wrapped New Leaf Grosgrain ribbon around all the layers and added the main image over. Though this sketch was a little tough for me, I really liked thinking "outside of the box" with the different shapes and colors!!

Oh Baby!

I needed to make a baby card and this weeks High Hopes and Mojo challenges were perfect for the occaision!! I used my Barely Sittin' image from High Hopes, how cute is this image!! I colored the baby and the bears bow using my copic markers, RV19 on the diaper and bow, B21 for the babies skin and a little dab of R20 on her cheeks. For the High Hopes challenge we were to "get that fuzzy feeling" so I used fun flock on the bear, so fun!!! For the blanket I stamped the image on Basic Grey Porcelain dp and cut out. The base card is Papertrey White Select, I added a layer of Dark Chocolate and a layer of Basic Grey Porcelain dp, the long strip is a layer of Raspberry Fizz and another layer of Basic Grey Porcelain dp, then wrapping Raspberry Fizz Satin ribbon. The image panel was cut out using my square Nestabilites and added to a layer of Dark Chocolate cut out using my square scallop Nestabilites. The image was highlighted using my Copic C1 marker.
